We work co-operatively with other users of the harbour zone to ensure this valued local environment is well cared for. As well as complying with relevant environmental legislation, LPC works to proactively minimise and/or mitigate any negative environmental impact of our business. ENVIRONMENTAL PRINCIPLES Committed to minimising any wrongheaded effects of our activities and facilities on the environment, the Company will: well-wisher environmentally sustainable principles in port operations avoid, remedy or mitigate wrongheaded effects of its operations on the environment where appropriate, pro-actively consult with the polity on environmental issues identify priorities for environmental resurgence implement and maintain systems and procedures for continually improving environmental performance monitor, document and report on environmental performance to the Board, senior management and staff. The Company’s Environmental Policy is a transferral to write all environmental issues in the Port such as noise and venting of contaminants to air, land and water. The Resource Management Act 1991, provides the legal framework, together with statutory policy statements, plans and regulations prepared under the Act. Lyttelton ‘Port Saddle’ Masterplan LPC recently released the Lyttelton ‘Port Saddle’ Masterplan in partnership with the Banks Peninsula Conservation Trust, and is seeking polity feedback on proposed ecological enhancement work. The Lyttelton ‘Port Saddle’ Masterplan covers an zone of 17 hectares of LPC-owned land, located whilom the eastern whet of Lyttelton township. This land has been identified for polity recreational use, ecological protection and enhancement of the ethnic flora and fauna, and the long-term protection of landscape values for the goody of the current and future communities of the Lyttelton Harbour basin. Improved wangle to the land from the Lyttelton township and enhancement of nature corridors with the proximal Urumau and Department of Conservation reserves, will midpoint the polity can enjoy, learn about, and contribute to thriving ethnic flora, bird, lizard, and invertebrate habitats.
